My quest to find the best workout continues... Workout #10 was a boot camp style class w/ Kaia F.I.T. (Functional Intense Training) this morning at 7:00am - I pretty much never workout before 8:00 so it was early but it felt good.

This is a woman's only workout group that does different types of workouts each day of the week. The instructor was super friendly and the members too I think the idea is to build a community of woman who like to workout. They provide nutritional support and weight loss goal as well.

The workout today was in the gym - they rent space from another gym. The place was clean and bright with wood flooring I think...

To start the workout we ran a big loop outside around the buildings 5 times then we immediately started the workout once we got back inside.

The workout: (as best as I can remember) :)

50 burpees
25 v-sits
10 ball-sits
50 jump squats
10 plank leg lifts
10 push ups
20 mountain climbers
plank 2 1/2min
50 jump squats
wall squats w/ 10lb biceps 2min
1 lap running outside
skaters 2min
20 pushups
jumping and hitting the wall high 2min
stretching and cool down

It was a good workout lots of different exercises.

Another after pic... I need to take pics @ the gym.

So the nitty gritty:
Nice clean gym
The instructor was friendly and knowledgeable
The members are all friendly and welcoming
The prices are moderate and include nutrition etc.
You can get a good workout here at any level

Would I recommend this gym? Yes... especially if you are looking for a woman only gym that actually works out hard.

** I did hot power yoga tonight at the Yoga Room and the "heat" was on... I don't recommend two workouts like that in a day!

Workout #9 Ultimate Kickboxing & Fitness

http://www.ultimatekick.com/cardio_kickboxing_classes.html

Monday night at 7:30 I took a cardio kickboxing class and surprisingly it was a tough workout! Years ago before I had our son I used to do kickboxing regularly it was a major workout and I loved it.

This place is definitely not turning out any fighters or getting into technique but from the minute the class started until the end we were moving... no breaks.

When I walked in the place the girl at the desk was friendly said "hi" and asked if I was new and handed me paperwork. The funny thing was the instructor for my class was standing right next to me and didn't say a word to me - in fact he never said anything to me or even ask how I liked the gym after the workout. The members were friendly though - the class had about 20 people all girls. We all had wrist wraps on and we used gloves half way through the workout.

The instructor had lots of energy and was in shape. His teaching style was cardio based with a lot of jumping around and punching and kicking. He didn't have his gloves up to guard his face the whole workout which is the #1 thing you want to do in kickboxing... protect your face!  Anyway we also did some short sprints in the gym and medicine ball ab work and  then we did bag work. At the end I was dripping sweat!

I didn't get a pic in the gym so this was when I got home... notice how red my face is still!

The gym was a good size with lots of hanging bags and other equipment on the sides. The whole place could use some cleaning especially the floor (it needed to be scrubbed)! And a new color scheme would be nice :)

So the nitty gritty:
The gym needed a good cleaning
The instructor was in shape but not friendly
If you push yourself you can get a great workout w/ a high cardio intensity level
The members were friendly - some in shape
I have no idea what their prices are and they are not listed online

Would I recommend this gym? I think so... they have different instructors so I'm sure some would be more friendly and I got a great workout - it was fast paced and fun with loud music.
