This has been a big workout week for me! Here is a schedule of the classes I took:
Monday: LA Fitness - 8:30am Zumba & 9:30am Bootcamp
Zero Gravity Crossfit - 6:30pm Crossfit
Tues. Zero Gravity Crossfit - 5:30pm Crossfit
Friday: LA Fitness - 9:45am Body Pump
Zero Gravity Crossfit - 4:30am Crossfit
Sat. Zero Gravity Crossfit - 9:00am
I'm definitely feeling it today and looking forward to resting my body tomorrow. I did a bazillion squats all week so my quads are dead. As you can see I did a lot more classes at Zero Gravity Crossfit (ZGC) so here is a quick update:
Most of the classes were just woman except today there were a few men... everyone was really friendly. I liked trying a whole week at one place you get a much better feel for it. I really liked the workouts - today was the hardest. The thing I like about crossfit is you get a good combo of doing strength moves and quick cardio drills. I like lifting weights so it works for me. One of the downsides of ZGC is their class times -- they only have group classes at night and they are closed on Wed. & Sun. but the owner said he is working hard on expanding class times. Oh and he said they are going to be offering a membership for unlimited crossfit and yoga (at the Yoga Room next door) for one reasonable price -- pretty cool deal I think... makes it much more affordable.
As I said before I can see this gym really growing and expanding.
Next update:
Remember CDR Crossfit? They have a new awesome building now and it's HUGE and really really nice. They have lots of new equipment, an inside running area, ring swings, etc.
This week I'm going to try a TRX class at the Energy Lab in Redlands... I'm really excited to try this type of workout!
Oh and I bought one of those cool speed workout jump ropes so I will be practicing "double unders" -- I will let you know how it goes. The best part... it was cheap... $8.85 and free shipping w/ amazon prime.

Workout # 7 - Crossfit at Beast Athlete / Zero Gravity Crossfit
This is a fairly new gym in Redlands and has kids Beast Athlete classes and adult Zero Gravity Crossfit classes. I got a one week pass so I'm going to try another class this week. I did the 6:30pm class last night and I was the only one in the class so it was basically a private session :) The class before me had about 5 people leaving.
The owner taught my class. He was in shape and seemed to know what he was doing.

We did a few warm up moves and then started with a power move - the press. He took a lot of time explaining the proper form for the move and we practiced with a PVC pipe before using actual weight. I did practice sets and then 3 sets of 10 at 35lbs. -- the idea is they log your weight and then everytime you add weight you log that number and try to keep increasing weight.
Jump rope 150 - 120 - 90 - 60 - 30
Sit ups 50 - 40 - 30 - 20 - 10
Done in 12min. Phew... that was a lot of sit ups and we are talking full sit ups not crunches! They had these cool really thin jump ropes - I want one. :)
We had time at the end to stretch and held the stretches for a long time so that was great... You can never stretch enough! The workout was pretty easy. It definitely didn't kick my butt - but I'm going to try another class this week! (I'll add an update)
The gym was small but super clean and tidy with nice bright colors... they could use a regular sound system instead of a corner boombox... do they still call those a boombox?
So the nitty gritty:
Nice, clean and attractive
The instructor was in shape, detailed with form and friendly
Medium difficulty level (but it could have been the day)
None of the members coming out said "hi'
They have a low monthly lock in rate right now
Would I recommend this gym? Yes... they are so new that I think they are still trying to define themselves but they have great potential and I can see this gym really growing.
** While I was writing this post look what got dropped off at my front door...
a new bobble water bottle we ordered these almost two weeks ago and they finally came! No matter what workout I do I always bring my water bottle and I love these filtered bottles. If you run out of water at the gym you can fill it up at the drinking fountain or bathroom sink and it filters when you drink - yay! Can you tell I'm just a little excited :)
